What it does
The Flag Quiz is a free browser game that shows a country's flag and asks you to pick the country from four choices, for all 195 countries. Wrong answers come from the same region, so similar flags are tested side by side. Play a quick round of 20 or the full set; practice mode brings missed flags back until you know them.
How to use it
- Choose a round
Play All 195 or a Quick 20 with flags drawn at random.
- Pick one of four answers
Click a country or press A–D. A wrong answer shows the correct country and waits until you press Next flag.
- Drill your mistakes
At the end you see your score, your time and everything you missed. Press Practice the ones you missed to replay only those.
Limits and notes
- Flag images come from the open-source flag-icons project (MIT licence) and use a 4:3 frame, so some flags are shown in different proportions from their official ones.
- The quiz covers the 193 UN member states plus Vatican City and Palestine.
- Scores and best times are kept only in this browser. Clearing site data resets them.
More about the Flag Quiz
Flags people mix up
Shown here in their official proportions; the quiz itself uses a 4:3 frame for every flag.
More look-alikes:
- Australia and New Zealand: both blue with the Union Jack; Australia’s stars are white, New Zealand’s are red.
- Mali and Guinea: the same pan-African colours in mirrored order; Senegal adds a green star to Mali’s pattern.
- Qatar and Bahrain: a white serrated band on maroon (Qatar) or red (Bahrain).
