What it does
The Europe Map Quiz is a free browser game that asks you to find 45 European countries on a blank map: the 44 that the United Nations groups under Europe, plus Cyprus. Each turn names a country and you click it; a wrong click highlights the right place. Practice mode brings missed countries back, and timed mode records your best time.
How to use it
- Find the named country
Click the country named above the map. Vatican City, Monaco, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Luxembourg and Malta have round markers.
- Zoom in for small places
Use the + and − buttons, pinch on a phone, or hold Ctrl and scroll. Drag to move around once you have zoomed in.
- Drill your mistakes
At the end you see your score, your time and everything you missed. Press Practice the ones you missed to replay only those.
Limits and notes
- Russia is asked but clipped at the edge of the map. Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are drawn as background because the UN groups them in Asia.
- Kosovo is drawn hatched and is not asked.
- Borders come from Natural Earth (1:50m) and are simplified so the map loads fast.
- Scores and best times are kept only in this browser. Clearing site data resets them.

Frequently asked questions
How many countries are in Europe?
The United Nations groups 44 countries under Europe, including Vatican City. This quiz adds Cyprus, an EU member, for 45. Counts above 50 include transcontinental countries such as Turkey and partly recognised states.
Which European countries are hardest to find?
The microstates: Vatican City, Monaco, San Marino and Liechtenstein, followed by Andorra, Malta and Luxembourg. In the Balkans, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Slovenia are often mixed up.
Is Turkey in the quiz?
No. Turkey has a small part in Europe, but the UN places it in Western Asia, so it is drawn as background here and asked in the Asia and Middle East quizzes.
Is my score saved?
Your best score and time for each mode are saved in this browser only. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server.
