Name the country for each of Africa's 54 flags. Free, no sign-up.
What it does
The Africa Flag Quiz is a free browser game that shows the flag of one of Africa's 54 countries and asks you to pick the country from four choices. Wrong answers come from the same part of Africa, so flags with similar pan-African colours are tested side by side. Practice mode brings missed flags back until you know them.
How to use it
- Pick one of four answers
Click an answer or press A–D on a keyboard. A right answer is marked and the quiz moves on; a wrong one shows the correct country and waits until you press Next.
- Choose a round
Practice mode brings missed questions back until you get them; Timed mode moves on and records your time.
- Drill your mistakes
At the end you see your score, your time and everything you missed. Press Practice the ones you missed to replay only those.
Limits and notes
- Flag images come from the open-source flag-icons project (MIT licence) and use a 4:3 frame, so some flags are shown in different proportions from their official ones.
- Scores and best times are kept only in this browser. Clearing site data resets them.
More about the Africa Flag Quiz

Frequently asked questions
Why do so many African flags use red, yellow and green?
They are the pan-African colours, taken from the flag of Ethiopia, long a symbol of African independence. Ghana adopted them at independence in 1957 and many countries followed.
Which African flags look alike?
Mali and Guinea use the same colours in mirrored order, and Senegal adds a green star to Mali's pattern. Chad's flag is almost identical to Romania's, and Côte d'Ivoire's mirrors Ireland's.
Is Western Sahara included?
No. The quiz covers the 54 UN member states in Africa.
Is my score saved?
