What it does

The Asia Flag Quiz is a free browser game that shows the flag of one of Asia's 48 countries and asks you to pick the country from four choices. Wrong answers come from the same part of Asia, so similar flags, such as the Gulf states or the pan-Arab tricolours, are tested together. Practice mode brings missed flags back until you know them.

How to use it

  1. Pick one of four answers

Click an answer or press A–D on a keyboard. A right answer is marked and the quiz moves on; a wrong one shows the correct country and waits until you press Next.

  2. Choose a round

Practice mode brings missed questions back until you get them; Timed mode moves on and records your time.

  3. Drill your mistakes

At the end you see your score, your time and everything you missed. Press Practice the ones you missed to replay only those.

Limits and notes

  • Flag images come from the open-source flag-icons project (MIT licence) and use a 4:3 frame, so some flags are shown in different proportions from their official ones.
  • The quiz uses the UN grouping of Asia: 48 countries including Palestine and Cyprus, without Russia or Taiwan.
  • Scores and best times are kept only in this browser. Clearing site data resets them.

Frequently asked questions

Which Asian flags look alike?

Qatar and Bahrain both have a white serrated band; Qatar's field is maroon and Bahrain's is red. Iraq, Syria and Yemen share the red, white and black pan-Arab stripes, and Indonesia's red-over-white flag is close to Singapore's.

Which Asian flag is not a rectangle?

Nepal's: two stacked pennants. It is the only non-rectangular national flag in the world.

Is Russia included?

No. The UN groups Russia with Eastern Europe, so its flag appears in the world Flag Quiz instead.
